We often tend to associate joint pain or Arthritis with elderly people but, this myth is proven to be false by current the scenario. This is further explained by the statistics which estimates that 1 in 3 people between the age group of 18-64 years have arthritis.

The term “Arthritis” refer to the condition affecting joints and surrounding tissues. It generally causes inflammation (swelling) in joints such as knees, wrists, fingers, toes and hips, and in the tissues surrounding it. Common types of arthritis include Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Juvenile Arthritis.

Rheumatoid Arthritis-

It is a condition in which body’s immune system targets and destroys our own body cells. This results in pain, swelling, stiffness, malformation, and reduced movement and function. Commonly affected joints involve joints of fingers, thumbs, wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees, feet and ankles.

Osteoarthritis-

A painful joint disease which involves the joints of hips, knees, neck, lower back, or small joints of the hands. It usually develops on performing repetitive activities or tasks such as playing a favorite sport or carrying around excess body weight.

Juvenile Arthritis-

Also called as childhood arthritis, it is a term describing arthritis in children. It causes pain, joint swelling, stiffness, inflammation of the eye and loss of motion. Most common of these include rheumatoid arthritis which leads to inflammation and causes joint damage.
