Thyroglobulin (TG) is a glycoprotein that is produced by the follicular cells of the thyroid gland when stimulation is received by the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). TG is a precursor for the synthesis of Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3). It is also an important reservoir of iodine for normal physiological needs.
